ECORISMO Morocco 2010 ‘Towards a Sustainable and Responsible Development of Tourism'
The Department of Tourism presented, within two-days time - April, 20-21, 2010- in close cooperation with its major partners, a platform of meetings and exchanges dedicated to responsible tourism, inaugurated on the morning of April 20 by the Minister of Tourism and Handicraft, in the presence of the Minister of Energy, Mines, Water and Environment, the Wali of Rabat- Salé-Zemmour-Zair and the Commissioner of the Day of the Earth.
Forum-Trade-fair of the Environment and Sustainable Development for Tourism, ECORISMO Morocco 2010, managed to bring together the professionals of tourism, people interested in innovations as regards sustainable development in tourism, and helped some service providers to meet their needs and concerns in the field of environmental management in particular and sustainable development in general.
Through its two spaces, held at the same time, the Forum - workshops / discussions and Trade-fair - exhibition space, ECORISMO proposed concrete and practical answers to the questions and needs of the professionals:
• The lectures and workshops of the Forum gave priority to discussions between experts and tourism professionals to exchange practical ideas , experiences and new trends with respect to sustainable development in tourism.
The various topics discussed in this context covered issues relating to the development, eco- construction of tourism sites, sustainable and responsible management of tourism sites as well as the environmental approach in hotel industry . Some practical cases were discussed in technical workshops revolving around energy efficiency in the tourism sector, the improvement and recycling of waste, the exchange of experiences and success stories of establishments having implemented an appropriate environmental management system based on the adoption of good principles and eco-gestures which are easily put into practice.

• The Trade-fair: About a thirty exhibitors were able to highlight the benefits and environmental innovations tailored to the needs and particularities of the tourism sector (solutions in the optimization of resources, waste management, eco-friendly products ...). The Trade-fair made it possible to develop tourism products that have adopted the sustainable development criteria in their conception, as well as an environmental approach appropriate for their establishment in the region.
Striking moments of the Forum
The striking moments of the opening ceremony were the presentation of Morocco Trophies of Responsible Tourism in their 3rd edition.
These trophies awarded five projects that are particularly committed to Responsible Tourism in 3 categories:
• 'Environment' delivered to Robinson Club Agadir and PROGRESS Citizen Action;
• 'Economic and Social Development, delivered to the Program of South Oasises;
• 'Values, Traditions and Culture, delivered to the Museum of Oasises - El Khorbat Guesthouse;
• 'Coup de Coeur /favourite preferences of the Jury' delivered to ‘Jardins Filtrants' of Mogador seaside resort.
