Mr. Lahcen Haddad, Minister of Tourism, is participating from the 25th to the 28th of April 2016, in the 23rd edition of the tourism show “Arabian Travel Market”, in Dubai. The first event of its kind in the Middle East in the travel and tourism sector. This global event scheduled at "Dubaï International Convention and Exhibition Center" is a professional platform for tourism industry in the Middle East with more than 2700 exhibitors (tour operators, carriers, hoteliers, etc ) and close to 21.000 visitors from 157 countries.
The consolidation of market share in Gulf countries and the Middle East is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Tourism that wants to reinforce –through its participation at the Dubai tourism show- the visibility of the Moroccan destination and its positioning in Gulf countries, which are among markets with high-added value. The tourism market in the Middle East is indeed a promising market with traveler flows of 51 million tourists in 2014 according to the MTO) and an annual average growth of 4.7% from 2005 to 2014.
Morocco has the ambition to strongly position itself in this market and targets a 10% growth rate in 2016, and bring 224 200 from this market (compared to 198.229 in 2005).
The challenge being is to develop the Dubai axis that represents a high potential market for Morocco; and also to enhance Morocco as a safe destination that offers varied products, worldwide known hotel chains, quality services, higher-value-added niche opportunities like golf, MICE, shopping, culture, etc as segments.
The Arabian Travel Market: Launched in 1994, the “ATM” is a platform for meetings between professionals (touristic destinations, accommodation offers, tourist attractions, air offers, air supply) in the Middle East.
The ATM in numbers:
- 2700 exhibitors from 83 countries
- 68 national pavilions
- 21.000 visitors from 157 countries
- 25.000 square meters for the total of exhibition space
The 2016 edition is under the theme “Family Tourism”. Other themes are also scheduled: New technologies and travel, Business, luxury and well-being tourism, Digital tourism, and responsible tourism.
