The new Moroccan sustainable tourism charter, dated January 25 2016 on the occasion of the celebration of the 1st edition of the Sustainable and Responsible Tourism day, is intended as a framework reference and a unifying tool of all industry stakeholders around the principles and values of sustainable tourism.
It revolves around four principles:
- The Environment and Biodiversity Protection
- Sustainability of Culture and Heritage
- Prioritization of Local Development and respect for host communities
- Adoption of the principles of fairness, ethics and social responsibility
With its new commitments, the charter seeks to promote the fact that sustainable tourism is now a matter of everyone through series of actions / commitments on 5 target actors :
- Institutionals
- Investors
- Professionals
- Civil Society
- Tourists
