The PDRT of Agadir
Thanks to its steady tourist activities over the year, Agadir's destination shows a strong influx of international tourists with the exception of the months of July and August which are more sought after by national tourists.
Thus the predominance of international tourism is one of the major characteristics of this seaside destination. Indeed, more than 80% of overnight stays at classified hotels are recorded by European tourism.
The main European markets concerned are:
- France with 34% of international overnight stays;
- Germany with 16%of international overnight stays;
- The United Kingdom with 15% of international overnight stays;
- Belgium with 9% of international overnight stays;
- Italy with 5% of international overnight stays.
Nevertheless, the seaside resort is suffering from some handicaps which the PDRT must overcome. These weak points concern its vague positioning, its limited presence over the issuing markets in comparison with similar destinations, the outdated state of certain tourist facilities and the lack of animation activities.
Positioning
For that purpose, the PDRT aims to position Agadir as «the seaside destination of tomorrow » : a modern destination with sunny beaches, splendid natural and cultural sites nearby, proposing a diversified offer of events, leisure activities ,golfing and products of well-being.
Target clienteles
According to this new positioning, 5 priority target clienteles have been selected :a clientele without any children in search of a relaxing experience at the seaside, a clientele without any children in search of beach and exotic new surroundings, a young clientele without any children in search of sports and ludic activities at the seaside and a family clientele in search of relaxation at the seaside in a safe and clean environment.
Objectives by the year 2015
It is expected to multiply by 2,4 the 5.000.000 overnight stays recorded in 2006 so that they will reach 12.000.000 ones in 2015, the 26.6 6 0 beds of the existing accommodation capacity which will reach 60.000 beds in 2015, and the occupancy rate of 64% in 2006 which will reach 70% in 2015.
