According to the report of a study conducted by the World Bank in 2003, the cost of the environment's degradation in Morocco causes many environmental damages and heavy economic losses. Thus, and in order to give details about the cost of the environmental degradation in some key economic sectors, a program of Meso- Economic studies has been launched within the framework of the Moroccan-Swiss cooperation (Meso program), financed by the Swiss government.

In fact, a Meso study for the Moroccan tourism sector will be carried out in partnership with The Tourism Department, the Ministry of Town and Country Planning, the Ministry of Water and Environment , and the Ministry of Higher Education, Executives' Training and Scientific Research. The work team designated to carry out this study benefits from the Swiss experts coaching Ecosys ( Applied and environmental Economy, Geneva ), and SBA ( S ustainable Business Associates, Lausanne ) for the implementation of a detailed and quantitative analysis, determining the environmental impacts of the sector.
