At present, the whole number of travel agencies in Morocco is estimated at 540 units. The city of Casablanca ranks 1st, with a total number of 189 travel agencies, that is 35% of the whole moroccan units, followed by Marrakech with a number of 98 (units), that is 18% (of the existing travel agencies) and Agadir which has at its disposal 50 structures, which is equivalent to 10% of the total number of travel agencies of the Kingdom.
In this respect, it is worth noting that this sector has witnessed, over the last few years, a marked increase as regards the creation of travel agencies. This growth may be reflected in the privileged position lent to tourist sector in the national economy and in the efforts made by the supervision Department in order to organize and to regulate the trade of travel agents in particular .These regulations are manifested in the implementation of the law n°¨31 - 96" of February, 12, 1997 regulating travel agencies and in the changes which arise at the level of the mode of attitude/behaviour concerning the national offer which has begun progressively to call for services offered by travel agencies.
It goes without saying that this activity is called upon to witness a greater increase. It is from this perspective that Tourism Department works in close collaboration with the professionals of the sector, and that with a view to offering the latter the whole necessary
material for its development.
