19-03-2009

On March 18, 2009 , Mr Mohamed Boussaid, Minister of Tourism and Handicraft, stated -in Rabat- that the tourist cooperation between Morocco and Kenya is now increasing thanks, in particular, to a draft protocol on tourist cooperation in this field.

Moreover, he has made it clear that this protocol aims, among others, to strengthen the cooperation in the field of hotel and tourist training.

The Kenyan party has expressed its wish to draw on the Moroccan experience in the field of tourism, more particularly those aspects related to the approach, conception as well as the implementation of the 2010 Vision and the Azur Plan.

It has also revealed a special interest in our “ handicraft, a showcase of Morocco's policy in the field of cultural tourism”, thus showing a strong desire for taking advantage of the Moroccan experience as regards the development of this kind of tourism.

Mr Boussaid has made it clear that the two parties have also mentioned the establishment of air connections which constitute a key element both in terms of tourist development and trade, expressing the wish to turn such a project into reality soon.

For his part, the Kenyan Minister has indicated that a memorandum of understanding relating to training and technical assistance, more particularly the successful experience of the Azur Plan and the investment matters, will be possibly signed next November in Kenya ”.
