Morocco and Spain undertake to reinforce the cooperation in the field of tourism

Morocco and Spain have decided to develop their cooperation in the field of tourism under a memorandum of understanding concluded on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 in Rabat between the two Departments concerned.

Signed by Mr Mohamed Boussaid, Minister of Tourism and Handicraft, and Mr Joan Mesquida, Spanish Secretary of State for tourism, this agreement concerns mainly the areas of tourist executives' training, tourist statistics, the coordination between the two countries at the level of international organisations, the follow-up and funding of tourist projects as well as the exchange of experience in the tourism sector.

During the meeting, Mr Boussaid echoed the excellence of relations between the two Kingdoms, emphasizing the willingness of Morocco to draw on the Spanish experience in the field of tourism.

The Minister went over the tourist potential of Morocco , shedding light on the outlines of the national strategy of tourism, mainly the 2010 Vision.

For his part, Mr Mesquida prided himself on the fruitful relations existing between the two countries, underlining that this agreement should serve as a basis for reinforcing the bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism.

orocco and Spain are viewed as “sister countries”, said the Spanish high ranking official, putting emphasis on the tremendous tourist potential of the Kingdom and on the strong affinity between the two countries in the field of tourism.
