Mr Adil Douiri, the Minister of Tourism, Handicraft and Social Economy visits the building site of Saidia's new tourist seaside-resort

Mr Adil Douiri, the Minister of Tourism, Handicraft and Social Economy went to Saidia on April 28, 2006 (the Oriental region) in order to inquire about the progress of the building site of Saidia's new tourist seaside-resort, one of the six stations planned within the framework of the Azur Plan.

Some explanations on the progress of the building site were given to the Minister of Tourism. Let's note in passing that this station is a large-scale project, stretching over 713 hectares , with a welcome capacity of 29.000 beds, including 17.000 hotel beds.

The Minister, who was accompanied by a delegation made up of deputies and journalists, visited different sites where 29 hotel units will be built, a marina of 700 "rings", 3 golf courses of 18 holes each, a "paseo maritmo" 6 km long, business shops, a handicraft center, a sports center, as well as residential units with a capacity of 12 000 beds.

This new station will require an investment of 9 billion 520 million DH. The sharing out of this amount will be as follows :

  •   1 billion DH designated for in-site planning;
  •   520 million DH designated for off-site investment facilities;
  •   8 billion DH designated for the financing of building sites (hotels, entertainment, leisure).

This structuring project, the start of which went back to February 2004, will have a beneficial impact on the development of the region. Undoubtedly, it will serve as a very effective lever for regional economy.

The construction work of the first stage of this new station will be achieved in June 2006.

Such a project aims to create 3000 houses and flats, 50 villas, a pleasure marina, as well as installations and services which are necessary for residents.
