Examination of means likely to strengthen the Moroccan-Mauritanian Cooperation in the field of handicraft and tourism
On April, 27 th , 2006 -Rabat-, the Minister of Tourism, Handicraft and Social Economy examined the means likely to reinforce the bilateral cooperation in the field of handicraft and tourism, in close collaboration with Mr Ba Abderrahmane, the Mauritanian Minister of Trade, Handicraft and Tourism.
On that occasion, Mr Douiri considered it necessary to define and examine the profitable tourist sites and products in Mauritania, with a view to promoting them through the strengthening of the bilateral cooperation.
Besides, the Minister let the Mauritanian party know the predisposition of the Kingdom to support Mauritania in the field of tourism, and more particularly the training of tour guides and the development of hotel infrastructure, with a view to contributing to a better "exploitation" of tourist potentialities of this country.
Having gone over the moroccan experience in the field of handicraft and social economy, and particularly in the cooperatives sector, Mr Douiri reiterated the predisposition of Morocco to strengthen the bilateral cooperation mainly in the field of training, marketing of handcrafted products, and the technical assistance.
Previously, the mauritanian high-ranking official encountered Mr Salaheddine Mezouar, the Minister of Industry, Trade and the Updating of the Economy, examining with him the means likely to strengthen the bilateral cooperation and the revitalization of the conventions signed between the two parties in the fields aforementioned.
In a statement to the press (MAP), Mr Abderrahmane indicated that his meetings with the moroccan party contributed to the examination of measures likely to develop the bilateral cooperation in the field of industry, handicraft and tourism, expressing thus his satisfaction as regards the excellent level of such a cooperation.
He put much emphasis on the need to implement the conventions signed in these domains, in order to promote the economic development, noting in passing that a moroccan-mauritanian technical committee was created to ensure the follow-up of the conventions signed between both parties in the field of tourism.
After emphasizing the will of his country to draw on the avant-garde moroccan experience in the field of handicraft and tourism, the high-ranking official expressed his gratefulness towards Morocco, a country which had previously received some mauritanian students to take advantage of training courses in the field of tourism.
Mr Ba Abderrahmane is part of a mauritanian delegation that took part in the work of the 6 th joint committee (26-27- April) co-presided by Mr Driss Jettou, the Prime Minister, and his mauritanian counterpart Sidi Mohamed Ould Boubaker
