Morocco participates in the Conference of Tourism Ministers relating to the 5+5 Group

The tourism Ministers of the five Maghreb countries and the five european countries of the Mediterranean Sea were in a meeting from 5 to 6 May in Hammamet (Tunisia)

This unprecedented Conference which fits the framework of the 5+5 dialogue brings together the five countries of the Union of Arab Maghreb (Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania and Tunisia) and the five european countries : Spain, France, Italy, Malta and Portugal.

In an interview given to Tunisia-MAP, outside the conference of Tourism Ministers of the 5+5 Group, Mr Adil Douiri, the Minister of Tourism, Handicraft and Social Economy, added that the "2010 Vision" is intended to strengthen tourist facilities, national and local capacities, to start big construction sites and to promote the tourist sector, an important driving force of socio-economic development of the country.

According to the Minister, such a Vision aims also at the diversification of the product, the development of training and partnership in air-transport and different fields related to tourism.

He put much emphasis on the fact that the 2010Vision is on the rise, expressing his optimism as regards the achievement of the objective of 10 million tourists by the year 2010, the growth of the hotel capacity and the construction of new units likely to strengthen the sector capacity.

He noted that the State and the private sector do their utmost to reach the objectives set forth in the development of the sector, the diversification of the product, and the extension of the territorial coverage of the program.

He noticed that the indicators are promising, insofar as the tourist sector has shown an increase during the three months of the year 2006 at the levels of both tourism nights and tourism.
