The 9th Essaouira Gnaoua Festival

The 9 th Essaouira Gnaoua Festival and Music of the World is scheduled to take place from 22 nd to 25 th June in Essaouira. Being loyal to its initial vocation, the festival keeps on promoting the Gnaoua music and highlighting the local music.

The creation of a forum for meeting and dialogue with the other cultures is an integral part of its objectives.

Since its creation in 1998, the Essaouira Festival has become a major cultural event among international musicians and a growing number of fans.

From 20.000 festival-goers at the very beginning, it attracted more than 450.000 at the 8 th edition (2005).

This 9 th "edition" will be characterized by the participation of a new generation of masters of Gnaoua as well as great international artists of jazz music.
