His Majesty the King lays the foundation stone for the construction of an Institute specialized in Hospitality and Tourism in Al Hoceima.
On July 11, 2006, His Majesty the King Mohammed VI laid the foundation stone for the construction of a hotel and tourist specialized Institute in Al Hoceima, the achievement of which will require a total amount of about 35 million DH.
On that occasion, a full explanation was given to the reigning monarch about this Institute which has at its disposal a welcome capacity of 612 trainees for 306 pedagogic seats, and which gives 9 courses of study concerning both specialized Technician level and Qualification. Such courses are intended to meet the needs of the units installed in Al Hoceima region.
The Institute which is in line with the development strategy of the professional training, implemented for the achievement of the 2010 Vision, will give a training in several trades such as welcome, tourist entertainment, cuisine/catering, bakery/pastry and hotel maintenance.
It will be equipped with a modern infrastructure containing rooms and pedagogic kitchens, or else a tourist recreation room, a maintenance shop, a bakery, a multimedia resources center etc.
This realization, which is also part of the governmental will to fit into the scheme of the creation of 72 000 direct employments by the year 2012, intends to make of the tourism sector a vehicle for Al Hoceima's development by improving the assets and potentialities of the region, the qualification of human resources and the concrete support for the sector's professionals.
It is worth noting that the Establishment will be operational in 2006/2007.
