His Majesty the King inquires about several tourist projects in Tangier
On July,19,2006, His Majesty the King Mohammed VI inquired about several tourist projects under construction in Tangier(the Ghandouri area)of a 5,6 billion DH investment.
On that occasion, the reigning monarch was given a full explanation about the projects scheduled to be accomplished in Ghandouri's tourist planning area (1.100 million DH and 2.200 beds) in the Coastal project (3 billion DH and 9.200 beds including 2.100 hotel beds) and in Cap Tingis project (1,5 billion DH).
These projects are intended to improve and to increase Tangier's tourist welcome capacity, within the framework of the objectives set forth in the 2010 vision. The Ghandouri area will be consolidated by the construction of 5 projects, that is to say the Ghandouri Hotel (155 million DH/232 beds), Al Boughaz's tourist complex (291 million DH and 1.100 beds), two residential complexes which will require a 398 million DH investment and Tangier Hotel Dolce (274 million DH) reaching a capacity of 600 beds.
This area reflects a great success due to the quality of its realization, the choice of investors as well as to the establishment of a successful public/private partnership, and that is all thanks to an effective involvement of public authorities during all the stages of the project. Inaugurated by His Majesty the King in August 2003, the planning of this area is in line with the national tourist policy which aspires to attract 10 million tourists by the year 2010.
It is also intended to facilitate the delivery of lots equipped for the construction of several hotel establishments with a capacity of about 6000 beds. The coastal project will comprise 3 hotels of 900 beds, residential rooms of 1200 beds, a Medina of 1000 beds, residences of 5700 beds and several villas of 1000 beds.
Concerning the Cap Tingis project, it will stretche over an area of 60 ha with a 1,5 billion DH investment. It will be equipped with villas, residential "action groups" and a tourist complex of 250 rooms.
