Creation of the Moroccan Committee for the « Responsible Tourism »

During a press conference held in Casablanca on September 11,2006 , the Tourism Observatory announced the creation of the Moroccan Committee for the Responsible Tourism

This new entity aims to give a qualitative dimension to the 2010 Vision. It is also intended to make such a Vision, very often described as too quantitative, fit into the scheme of sustainable development and values preservation, of culture and national traditions.

Convinced that the future of tourism is based on national and international operators being given a sense of responsibility, and on the involvement of citizens and tourists, the priority action plan relating to this National Committee revolves around the following three points :

•   The setting up of the Moroccan Chart of the Responsible Tourism
•   The publication of a guide concerning the responsible tourist
•   The creation of a Label concerning the Responsible Tourism

The Moroccan Committee for the Responsible Tourism is chaired by the Minister of Tourism. It has among its members :

•   The President of the Tourism National Federation /Vice Chairman
•   The Director General of the Moroccan National Office of Tourism /General Secretary of the Committee
•   The President of the Tourism Observatory
•   The President of the National Federation of Travel Agencies
•   The President of the National Federation of Hotel Industry
•   The General Secretary of the Tourism Department
•   The General Secretary of the FNT.
