Participation of Morocco in the 5th Islamic Conference of the Tourism Ministers

The Islamic Conference of the Tourism Ministers organised its 5 th session from 9 th to 12 th September in Baku (the capital of Azerbaijan ). Morocco was represented by Mr Abderrahim Daoudi, the General Inspector of Tourism, Handicraft and Social Economy, who gave a talk on the development strategy of the tourist sector in the Kingdom.

In this connection, he put much emphasis on the great opportunities offered by the Kingdom, with a view to encouraging investment in this field, and more particularly all that has to do with Moroccan tax system, land and commercial property.

The Azerbaijani Minister of tourism and culture, who gave a talk at the opening of the 5 th session, greeted the pioneer tourist experience of Morocco with admiration. He emphasized as well the importance of the role played by tourism in every economic and social development process.

The persons taking part in Baku conference exhorted the member States to promote their cooperation, with a view to encouraging the sustainable development of the tourist sector, the influx of tourists into the islamic States, and to urging these countries to take part in the shows organised in the member States of the OCI.

In addition, they focused on the need to denounce all sorts of terrorism and violence and to reduce conflicts which have a negative impact on the tourist activities, and that is all in accordance with the rules and principles of the international right.

At the end, and according to the final statement, the participants decided to organise the next meeting in Syria in 2008.
