2015 Vision : Signature of a partnership convention between the Department of Handicraft and the Managem Group
Supplying craftsmen with raw materials is one of the priority building sites of the 2015 Vision for the development of the handicraft sector. It is primarily about the implementation of a series of measures designed mainly for mono-craftsmen, both urban and rural, with a view to ensuring a permanent supply.
Within this framework, Mr Adil Douiri, the Minister of Tourism, Handicraft and Social Economy, and Mr Abbaro, the Managing Director of the Managem Group, signed on Saturday 7 th April in Tiznit a framework convention aiming to supply steadily the craftsmen jewellers with raw materials and more particularly raw silver.
Actually, the SMI, the subsidiary of the Managem Group, committed itself to a form of contractualization with a distributor in order to deliver to him during 3 years - renewal by tacit agreement- a quantity of raw silver which will be put at the disposal of the craftsmen jewellers.
This partnership with the distributor will permit a clear marketing of the raw silver, and that is all through his own sales points which will be located in the towns and regions renowned for their jewellery production.
Similarly, the selling prices will have to be unbeatable so as to counteract the informal trade of raw silver.
It should be reminded that the average annual consumption of raw silver is 90 tons while the availability of this material at the national level doesn't exceed 6 tons, the rest is acquired at the informal market.
On the other hand, and as part of this framework convention, the Managem Group will provide assistance and a technical support, the objective being to benefit from the mining group's know-how which is recognized all over the world, in order to improve the techniques used in the handicraft sector, such as the processing of the surfaces of metal made products, the enamels used in the pottery etc.
