The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) in Tripoli to promote Morocco destination
In May 2007, the Moroccan National Tourist Office took part in the trade show organized on the occasion of the economic, cultural and tourist week in Tripoli .
For that purpose, several meetings were held at Morocco's stand with the Libyan operators and other professionals of the sector in order to promote the Moroccan tourist product by accentuating the tourist industry, expertise and Morocco 's know-how in this field.
During those meetings, Mr Taibi Ahmed Khattab, the manager of the Middle-East/Asia pole within the ONMT, informed the visitors about the tourist potentialities of the Kingdom and the investment opportunities in the tourism sector. He put the emphasis on the advances made by Moroccan tourist industry in all of the segments.
Together with the Libyan representatives he also brought up some points which had already been included
within the agreement between the two countries concerning particularly the exchange of experience and professional training. The Libyan representatives emphasized well and truly this point because Morocco is considered as one of the countries having at their disposal better training centers (Tangier Higher Institute of Tourism, famous hotel schools and training centers);hence their wish to benefit from the Moroccan experience in the field of tourist marketing.
As far as the Middle-East is concerned, the Moroccan representative indicated that the Office considers the countries of this region as "a strategic market". Such a market has shown two-figure increase, even if the competition is fierce in these countries and more particularly in
these of the Gulf Cooperation Council, among others the United Arab Emirates where the ONMT has just launched an advertising and communication campaign suited to this market by putting emphasis on family tourism.
