The second session of the Moroccan -Tunisian joint committee of Tourism

With a view to strengthening the cooperation relations in the field of tourism between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Tunisian Republic , Mr Adil DOUIRI , the Minister of Tourism, Handicraft and Social Economy and Mr Tijani HADDAD, the Tunisian Minister of Tourism, presided over the second session of the Moroccan-Tunisian joint committee of tourism on June 26, 2007 in Rabat .

During that meeting, the two parties looked over the tourist potentialities of both countries and explored the means of consolidating the bilateral cooperation in the following domains:

  • The tourist promotion and marketing through the co-participation in action workshops and  international trade shows, as well as the development and  marketing of a common tourist product designed for distant markets including mainly the United States of America, Canada, China and the oriental Arab countries;
  • The management and investment by means of encouraging the two countries to exchange visits in order to discover  investment opportunities;
  • The training and the exchange of experiences, trainers, training programs, grants and training courses in the tourist and hotel field, as well as the exchange of exploratory visits so as to take advantages from the  experiences of both countries in many fields such as rural tourism, and the tourist observation and studies;
  • The coordination of  actions of both countries as regards  regional and international tourist meetings.

Concerning the twinning between Tangier International Higher Institute of Tourism and the Hotel and Tourist Training Center of Bellaregia of Sousse , the representatives of both countries are at present finalizing its convention. Besides, the two countries have agreed to update the cooperation contract concluded in 1979.
