Moroccan Charter of responsible tourism: signature of several cooperation conventions between the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and some Tour-Operators (TO) as well as between this office and several hotel owners.
The 29 th edition of the French Trade Show of the tourism professionals (TOP Resa) which was held from 26 to 28 September in Deauville, has been characterized (on Thursday 27, September) by the signature of several cooperation conventions between the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and some Tour-Operators (TO) as well as between this office and the hotel owners who have expressed their willingness to join the Moroccan Charter of responsible tourism.
Several agreements have been signed with the « Accor » Group/Morocco, “Club Med”, the non-governmental organization, “PlaNet Finance”, the TO “Atalante”, “ Adventure Club ”, “FRAM”, “ New Frontiers ”, Jet Tours” and “ Travellers of the World ” as well as with the Moroccan Royal Airlines(RAM).
The aim of these agreements signed with the TO is to bring to fruition some concrete actions in the field of responsible tourism and to raise funds, on behalf of Mohammed VI Foundation for the protection of environment, aimed at replanting Marrakech's palm grove.
These conventions are also about the marketing of rural tourism products and the encouragement of the cooperatives.
In accordance with this convention, the “Accor” Group/Morocco has undertaken to put in place a program of water and waste management at the level of hotel establishments and to take measures of fight against exclusion by organizing some literacy operations and training women who work in the cooperatives of the production of argan oil.
The agreement with the non-governmental organization -“PlaNet Finance”- whose mission consists in fighting against poverty by means of granting loans with a low amount to those excluded from the banking system, so that they might create their own employment, plans to put in place some attendant measures for granting micro-credits.
The convention signed with the RAM stipulates that a video should be installed on the planes of national airlines so as to make passengers more aware of the protection of environment and the respect of culture and traditions of the local population.
