The ceremony of laying down the foundation stone for the building of the first hotel of Mogador's seaside resort
Mr Mohamed Boussaid, the Minister of Tourism and Handicraft, presided over the ceremony of laying down the foundation stone for the construction of the first hotel of Mogador's seaside resort in Essaouira on Thursday June 26th, 2008 .
This first hotel, “Sofitel Luxury Mogador Golf and Spa”, which is going to be developed on a land base of about 13 hectares will comprise around 170 keys, among which 30 villas-suites located by the gulf, having a total of about 200 rooms.
Managed by Sofitel Luxury trade name, this hotel will be one of the first new generation hotels of Sofitel, established within the framework of strategic repositioning towards the luxury which has been carried out by the company since 2007, explained the promoters of this project.
According to the same source, with a substantial investment estimated at 650 million Dirhams, this unit positions itself, from now on, among the new reference hotels of Morocco destination.
The ceremony of launching the construction work of this first hotel took place in the presence of Mr Andre Azoulay, the counsellor of His Majesty the King and the founding President of Essaouira-Mogador Association, Mr Abdeslem Bikrat, the Governor of Essaouira and Mr Amyn Alami, the Director of SAEMOG ( the company in charge of developing the station).
Established over a surface area of 580 hectares, Mogador's seaside resort will provide a welcome capacity of 10.000 beds, including 6500 hotel beds. The only stage I of this large scale project, which is in the process of being developed will have at its disposal a capacity of 4000 beds, including 2800 hotel beds, over a surface area of 350 hectares.
he program of the first stage revolves around two 18-golf courses, three big luxury hotels ( Gulf hotel, Palace hotel and Dunes hotel), and Mogador's “village” made up of 8 exclusive hotels comprising about 30 rooms, 7 hotel residences having a total of 200 apartments and several dozens of business and entertainment centres.
