National Program of touristic Innovation and Competitiveness

Building a strong and attractive tourism offer largely depends on the quality of tourism services provided by tourism stakeholders throughout the tourism value chain.

Tourism accommodation, travel agencies, guides, touristic carriers, or even actors positioned within associated activities and / or animation, such as cultural and leisure activities or restaurants constitute the main elements of this chain. These actors are shaping the tourism offer and play a leading role in its development and positioning.

These elements are facing major quantitative and qualitative challenges. Indeed, the changing expectations of tourists, the expansion of tourism offerings to a global level and the development of new technologies are made possible thanks to professional requirements, enhancement of the quality of services of traditional players, and by the challenge of creating and developing related activities that can enrich and complement the tourism offer. In this direction, the projections of the vision 2020 highlight a need for the creation of companies estimated at approximately 7,700 new tourist SMEs / TPE generating around 50,000 new jobs.

In order to meet these challenges, Vision 2020 has planned a major project dedicated to the competitiveness whose main axes are the regulatory modernization and support for tourism SMEs. This major project is expected to:

  • Structure the economic fabric and support tourism stakeholders through the development of specific guidance and support mechanisms for small and medium tourism enterprises;
  • Develop a real quality culture among tourism operators.
  • Improvement of tourism management and raising standards to an international level through regulatory reforms that support new businesses and products of the Vision and encourage competition and development networks.

This project has four major components:

  1. Regulatory reform of the texts governing the tourism business and ensuring professionalization and structuring of tourist businesses, as well as minimum quality standards.
  2. The establishment of a global support system specific to the tourism companies. This system, which will include a set of support mechanisms, will facilitate the access to tourism companies to key competitiveness factors. The purpose is to enable them to improve their performance and achieve satisfactory profitability thresholds, thus contributing to improving the competitiveness of the element.

  3. The accompaniment of federations and associations of tourism businesses for an organizational structure to ensure better representation of their members.
  4. Capacity building and professional training and exchange sessions.
