Geographic location
The Atlas Valleys territory is located in the center of the country. It is bounded on the north by Morocco Mediterranean territory, southwest by the Souss Sahara Atlantic territory, to the west by the Atlantic Marrakech territory, Northwest by the Central Atlantic Territory and to the east and south by Algeria. It covers an area of about 162,035 square kilometers, which can be converted to 22.8% of the national territory.

The territory consists of nine provinces:

Territory’s positiniong
Atlas Valleys is the leading destination for ecotourism and sustainable development around the Méditerranéen, it is centered around three sites:
• High Atlas : A pure mountain and a living culture
• Ouarzazate : the prelude to the desert
• Valleys and oasis : the escapade in the desert

The nature tourism offer in the High Atlas site will be based on authenticity and top range products in order to stand out in comparison with the large, varied and very accessible offer that is already available nearby or in the main source markets.
The desert tourism experience that Ouarzazate Valleys & Oases can offer is unique.
 It is characterized by a mix between The desert and lively oases, between nomadic and oasis tourism. The offer of international competition is therefore rare and comparatively less interesting. This offer therefore has the potential to become a high value-added niche and a showcase
for Moroccan tourism. In order to achieve this, Some strict control of nature degradation risks will be required, and a sustainable strategy for conservation and cultural enhancement needs to be put in place.
 
Territory’s resources
Atlas Valleys is characterized by a diversity of tourism resources that can offer very different experiences: Firstly, a diversity of reliefs and landscapes, with mountains, valleys, oases and deserts; varied historical heritage, including ksours, kasbah, granaries and mills; cultural and living traditions that the traveler can feel as a print in the streets of iconic cities like Ouarzazate and souks and villages in the region.

Goals 2020
• 1.8 million tourist arrivals (against 880,000 in 2010)
• Additional bedding capacity of 10,600 beds in order to reach 26,600 beds (hotel and similar)
• Creation of 39,000 direct jobs
• 13.045 million dirhams of tourism revenue (against 5,800 million dirhams in 2010)
Ambition of territorial development
• The positioning of the current hotel facilities in line with the ambition and positioning of the territory
• Ouarzazate will combine an eco-resort in the desert with innovative entertainment concepts around the cinema
• The natural and cultural heritage will be highlighted through a unique product within Mediterranean: the conversion of ksour and kasbah in authentic luxury accommodation
• The experience of homestay in the douars, green stations around water points, The small sustainable lodging units homestay will create a dense network of authentic and ecological tourism offers
• The potential of natural sites will be honored through mountain sports
•  and the creation of themed events around the palm groves, oases, rose gardens, dinosaurs
• Several projects and urban infrastructure upgrades will be launched:
o The development of tangible heritage by rehabilitating the already built heritage (Ksours, Kasbah, lofts, water mills) to preserve the cultural identity of the territory;
o The preservation of fragile natural areas by controlling tourism development and sport activities practicing;
o The opening of the Ouarzazate site and the development of the interconnection between the multiple sites (Ouarzazate, the High Atlas and the valleys)
Customers
The expected customer base in this area is composed of three segments:
• Conformist Adventurers are adults looking to discover new destinations and cultures, who prefer activities rather than relaxation, but go rarely outside the beaten path;
• Luxury weanlings are the segment of the most experienced travelers, who are strongly oriented towards the discovery and exploration, and who prefer to visit the emerging countries;
• Seniors looking for Adventures are seniors who attach great importance to traveling, and who want to "catch up" by discovering new countries, cultures and natures.
