Morocco is active at event for sustainable and inclusive development in the south and east of the Mediterranean
A large delegation comprised of tourism operators, scholars, and experts in sustainable tourism in Morocco, presided by Mrs. Nada Roudie , Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism, has taken part in the workshop “Tourism and Sustainable Tourism: What contribution of sustainable and inclusive tourism in the south and east of the Mediterranean region? “ which was held from 23 to 24 May 2016 in Marseille.
Conceived in participatory fashion, this workshop organized by the French Development Agency and Blue Plan, aims at building a sectoral intervention framework about the contribution of tourism in sustainable and inclusive tourism in the Mediterranean region, particularly by:
- The sharing of good practices
- The elaboration of a global vision
- The operationalization of this vision
- The implementation of relevant and realistic recommendations in terms of financing, training, partnerships…
- The networks to set up for experience sharing.
The Moroccan delegation participated to strengthen the position of Morocco as a sustainable destination in the region, and to ensure a better overview of the strategy for sustainable tourism, and consolidate the aspired position of Morocco as a destination of reference in sustainable development in the Mediterranean region.
Mrs. Nada Roudies, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism and President of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Tourism from 2013 to 2015, has stipulated in her speech that “Morocco strives to maximize the contribution of tourism in economic and social development while preserving and enhancing the natural resources and our cultural heritage”.
She has also congratulated the organizers for this important initiative that favors the debate on development challenges of sustainable tourism in the Mediterranean, which strives to put in place a Mediterranean strategy for sustainable tourism and a common approach for responsible tourism development that addresses the main challenges of our time, and adapts to global changes.
