Lahcen Haddad named « Personality of the year 2015 in Tourism » by the Arab Center for Travel Media in Dubai


Mister Lahcen Haddad, Minister of Tourism was awarded “personality of the year” 2015 by the Center for Travel Media in Dubai as part of the 8th edition of tourism trophies granted by the center annually since 2008.

Mr Lahcen Haddad has received Tuesday April 26th 2016 in Dubai, the award for “Tourism Personality of the year 2015”, delivered by the Center for Travel Media, where professionals of the Arab local and international media were present.

During this ceremony, Mr. Hussein ANNOUSSOUR, President of the Arab Center for Tourism Media, has stated that this recognition is a way of “honoring the Minister and recognizing his efforts to develop Arab and local tourism”. He also explained that the purpose of these trophies is “to support and encourage the achievements and efforts made to develop this sector in Arab countries, and to stimulate tourist flow in the Arab world as well as encourage the value of quality service.

During his acceptance speech, Mr. Haddad emphasized the importance and positioning of Morocco as a destination in the global sphere of tourism. “This place that embodies the maturity of the Moroccan destination and reaffirms the relevance of the vision initiated by Morocco to develop its industry as a pillar of national economy”.

Mr. Haddad was reassured about the future of global tourism, specifying that the tourism industry remains significant, as the culture of travel is deeply rooted in consumers’ habits. “Tourism is a major factor in the global economic shift towards the service and entertainment industries,” Haddad said, adding that the challenge for the next years to come is to mobilize decision makers to focus on innovations of tourism professionals.

It should be recalled that the selection committee (Arab Center for travel Media) has announced in February, Mr Haddad as the recipient of the “Tourism Personality of the year” award, as part of the Center’s annual ceremony. This year, the voting was online, with 122 nominees, including 23 categories, representing 18 Arab countries.
