Revitalizing the bilateral cooperation between Morocco and Hungary

On 25 April 2017, the Minister of Tourism, Mohamed Sajid, and the Secretary of State for Tourism, Lamia Boutaleb, held a meeting with the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Peter Szijjarto, with a view to giving a fresh impetus to the bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism, which dates back to the cooperation agreement signed in 1998 between the two countries in Budapest.

The two sides discussed the actions that must be undertaken in order to boost cooperation in this field, namely to encourage hungarian tourism professionals to schedule the "Moroccan destination" so as to increase tourist flows, to establish the measures that are necessary to improve air connectivity between the two countries, and to encourage investors to exploit the opportunities in this field.

According to Mr. Sajid, to overcome the problem of air connectivity between Morocco and Hungary that hampers the development of this market, a Ryanair flight that connects Budapest with Marrakech will be launched towards the end of 2017, adding that negotiations are ongoing with WIZZAR to launch a second route between Budapest and Agadir.

Moreover, annual communication campaigns addressing the digital and other promotion measures were carried out in favor of the Hungarian market.
